I’m a big advocate of home-study courses, especially for beginners.
I have been to those 3-4 day internet marketing courses where they claim you will be able to start making money after you have completed the course. I’m sorry to say this…but most of the time it will not work. There are a lot of stuff to learn and implement in a MLM business, and mastering everything in 3-4 days is just ridiculous.

Copywriting: Salesmanship in print.
It’s the essential skill ANYONE serious in building an online business…MLM or not…must learn.
Unfortunately copywriting is not exactly easy to master. There is a language and tone of writing which you can only acquire through lots of practice. Writing great copy is a multi-million dollar skill. All the richest businessmen or businesswomen I studied of talked about the importance of copywriting.
Yanik Silver, Rich Schefren, Eben Pagan, Mike Filsaime, Frank Kern, John Reese…all talked and mentioned about the importance of copywriting.
Mike Dillard covers copywriting in MLM Traffic Formula, and even he admits he’s not to the level of a professional copywriter, but its enough to earn him millions in his MLM business.
It just so happens that I recently came across news that Clayton Makepeace’s (a 40-years professional copywriter whose copy he wrote generated $1.5 billion in sales) right hand man Tony Flores is releasing a copywriting course which examines how his mentor Clayton writes his copy.
The course is MASSIVE…over 1000 pages in text alone and with 11 CDs and DVDs to cover what the text couldn’t. I was greeted by this huge box when I received it, and after going through the chapters I was very excited about the most expensive home-study course I have purchased.

The millionaire who author the Traffic Secrets series. John Reese is one of the pioneer gurus in internet marketing, and made his mark 4 years ago when he released the first Traffic Secrets.
I own Traffic Secrets 2.0…so what do you expect me to say next?

Eben Pagan…I only got to know him in June 2008, when he was promoting his Gurumastermind coaching course, which was closed since.
His pre-launch promotion was over in a short 3 weeks…but I’m telling you…he really left a BIG impression on me.
The HUMONGOUS amount of books he read (you’re see it in one of his videos there…it a LIBRARY)…the amount of confidence he has…the knowledge he holds and share openly for free…the quality of the videos he made…is just awesome.
All his videos consist of only him talking…no fancy graphics flying here and there…but he alone and the incredible knowledge and experience he spews out is enough to hold you infront of your monitor.
Knowledge and experience that came from a man running a US$20 million a year informational product business.

Recommended Copywriting Practices
Copywriting!
A CRITICAL skill which I mentioned in my About Kai Wei section, and again above when I talked about Ultimate Desktop Copy Coach…and yet again in the many posts to come.
I remember very clearly how I was taught Chinese simply by writing chinese characters again and again and again.
During my secondary school and my 2 years in Saint Andrew’s Junior College, I remembered how constant practice in my Additional Mathematics earned me a A1…
how constant writing earned me great 30/40 grades in my GP essays…
how constant drilling earned me an A in my Mathematics in my A’Levels.
(Unfortunately right now in University I can’t boast much…because my grades simply stink and because I find University studies on a whole new level of difficulty…and the insane pace of learning is choking me.)
I wondered how many trees were cut down from all the paper I used to practice answering the question from previous years’ examinations during that period of last minute revisions.
Now when writing sales letters…when writing blog posts…or just about anything, acquiring the great copywriting skills to achieve the high sales conversion all marketers want, it comes down to this.
PRACTICE Practice practice….

Let’s get started. Below is a list of salesletters which I personally have in my swipe file (what’s a swipe file? Search around in my blog…I’m sure I written about it somewhere).
Read and practice writing them out BY HAND.
It’s a pain…for sure. Especially those long sales letters…they can take hours to finish copying.
But I’m telling you…when you write them out by hand, you are forced to slowly analyze how the headlines GRAB your attention…
how the long list of benefits are carefully worded to stroke the skin of the readers’ desires…
how the emotions and power words used in the vocabulary can cause your heart to start pumping…
how the paragraphs somehow link together and form a slippery slope sliding you down all the way to the purchase button…
and how your readers will be whipping out their credit cards…
and how they don’t feel a pinch but pure excitement as they eagerly await the product to be shipped to their doorstep.
Powerful stuff.

Look at the bullets describing the benefits. Notice how they sort of tell you what you can achieve specifically in the different areas in your MLM business.**
**Ewen Chia is another Singaporean millionaire who made his fortune from marketing online. Almost similar to Mike Dillard…he slogged for 5 years before he made his first breakthrough.
I personally find his salesletter kinda has more hype than Mike’s, but still powerful nonetheless. A great practice.**
